Description

I would love for you to help us cycling directors using your app with this fetures:

1.Option to add waypoints to tracks by just putting the kilometee you want it in.
2. Option to have a alert with a predetermined distance away from waypoint.
3. A drop down menu showing the waypoints that are coming ahead and the distance left to reach the waypoint.

Thanks for your help and for your helping app. I hope it keeps developing and getting better.

Hello, thank you for contacting us and for your suggestions. I do have some questions for clarification:

  1. It is possible to add waypoint at arbitrary location on the map. But if I understand correctly you need to add a waypoint to a specific distance from start on the track?
  2. You need this to distance to arbitrary waypoint on the map or only a waypoint on the track?
  3. Also you need this for all waypoints on the track or arbitrary waypoints on the map?

I am also asking because currently we only support arbitrary waypoints on the map not waypoints on the track and to support this it will require rework of the app.

Thank you for your reply and for the great work on the app.

To clarify and expand on my original message, especially in response to your questions:

1.Yes, we would love to be able to add waypoints at specific kilometer marks from the start of the selected route—for example, adding a waypoint at km 35, km 68, etc.

2.We only need the distance to waypoints that are on the track itself, not arbitrary points on the map.

3.The feature would be used per route—so each route would have its own set of individually added waypoints, and we’d see a live or dynamic list showing the distance remaining to each of those waypoints as we progress along the track.

This would be extremely helpful for cycling coaches and directors to plan nutrition points, key climbs, or tactical zones during races or training rides. A good example of this implementation can be seen in the VeloViewer Live app, which displays a live list of upcoming waypoints and the distance remaining to each one.

I believe this would make GPX Viewer Pro an even more powerful tool for route management and in-race strategy.

Thank you again for your time and for considering the suggestion!

Best regards,
Amauri

Hello,

thank you a lot for your suggestions, we really appreciate it. But we want to focus our app to recreation cyclists and hikers and for broader use case. This use case is more race specific. However we do plan to add turn-by-turn navigation functionality in the future so it might be more for your use case.

Kind regards,
Tomas Vajda
